Information Resources/Chief Information Officer (CIO)

MISSION

The CIO provides effective and secure information technology (IT) solutions that allow TTB to carry out its mission without imposing undue burdens on industries that the Bureau regulates.

FUNCTIONS

The CIO's responsibilities are divided into four categories:

IT infrastructure and customer support

  • Provide for all TTB electronic mail, file storage, office applications, and custom application hosting services including the Internet and Intranet.
  • Provide all TTB customer support including Help Desk and provisioning and maintaining client hardware and software.
  • Provide daily security administration, including account generation, anti-virus programs, and security compliance monitoring.

Application Development and Maintenance and Quality Programs

  • Provide oversight of all TTB Custom Application Development and Maintenance.
  • Provide Configuration Management (CM), Data Management (DM), and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), including policy and documentation for TTB IT functions.

Information Systems Security (as the Information Systems Security Officer)

  • Perform daily security assurance, including periodic intrusion detection, periodic penetration testing, and periodic vulnerability scanning.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish IT security policy to ensure compliance with all Federal regulations.

Enterprise Architecture, IT Capital Planning and IT Strategic Planning

  • Implement IT Governance.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish IT performance measures, TTB Enterprise Architecture, and the TTB IT Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain the IT investment portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain TTB IT Business Cases (OMB-300B).
