Click 'Query/Load Fields'. The data selection window will appear.
In the data selection window choose a model,
run time (analysis time) and forecast
projection. This will specify a particular data
file. You may then Query Fields or Load
Data.
If you Query Fields, a new window will appear
in 20-30 seconds, listing all the grib variables and levels
available in the grib file. These are helpful when you
Load Data.
If you Load Data, you may specify either the
rec # from the Query Fields information,
or the field name and
level. Both are case-insensitive, but you
must specify the level exactly as it appears in the Load
Data window. For instance, you might chose field:
"hgt" (without quotes), and level: "975 mb" (without
quotes). Or, as another example: field: "cape",
level: "255-0 mb above gnd". Hybrid
levels are an exception: for those you need enter only
the number of the hybrid level you want.
Once the field has loaded, you may move the cursor over the
field to see field values.
Use the Change displayed field button to toggle
among loaded fields, or delete loaded fields.
Drag (move the mouse while holding
down button 1) to choose an area in which to zoom. (The zoom
will occur as soon as the mouse button is released.) Undo
zooming by clicking the un-zoom or
Default button.
Drag the balls on the slider bars
to hide all data except those in the range(s) you have
selected. Click on a bar to reset the range to its original
value.
In order to store more fields withough running out of memory, you may wish
to
follow these steps to increase the amount of memory available to the
applet.
