Self-Reactive Materials and
Organic Peroxides

A Self- reactive material (Division 4.1) that is not identified by technical name in the Self Reactive Materials Table in § 173.224(b) of the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) must be approved in writing by the Associate Administrator in accordance with the requirements of § 173.124(a) (2) (iii).

An Organic Peroxide material (Division 5.2) that is not identified by a technical name in any of the Organic Peroxide Tables found in § 173.225 of the HMR must be approved in writing by the Associate Administrator in accordance with the requirements of § 173.128(d).

An applicant for Self Reactive Materials or Organic Peroxide is subject to the provisions of 49CFR § 107.701 Subpart H-Approvals, Registrations and Submissions. The person must file the application by one of the methods listed below:
