Clean Air, Water and Land
From the forests of the Upper Peninsula to the marshes along the Detroit River, Michigan is rich in natural gifts. Protecting those gifts has been one of my goals since I entered the Senate, and I will continue to fight to protect air, water and land resources.
I support passage of the Clean Water Restoration Act, which would broaden and strengthen one of the most successful environmental measures in U.S. history, the Clean Water Act. I have sought and helped obtain funding to help Michigan communities protect water quality by improving their sewage collection and treatment systems, and I’ll continue to seek such funding. I also support funding for the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Resolving Funds and for Department of Agriculture and EPA rural water programs, funding that helps ensure proper treatment of wastewater and access to safe, clean drinking water.
