Recreation Areas

Day Use Fees

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Cumberland charges a day use fee at selected areas. The recreation areas on Lake Cumberland charging these fees are Waitsboro, Cumberland Point, Halcomb’s Landing, Kendall and Fall Creek. These areas offer playgrounds, boat launching ramps, bathrooms, picnic sites and picnic shelters and have a fee of $3.00. Current Golden Age/Access passport holders or individuals possessing the new America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass will receive receive a 50% discount on these fees.

Payment of the fee will permit the use of similar day use facilities at any Corps project on the date of payment. A paid camping permit from a Corps operated campground will entitle the holder to use any designated day use facility without paying the day user fee on the day for which the camping permit is valid.

Annual Passes

Day Use Annual Passes are available for sale at the Lake Cumberland Natural Resource Management Office in Somerset, KY or at any of the recreation areas mentioned above. Annual Passes cost $30.00 each and are valid for twelve months from the date of issuance.

A half-price discount is given for the holder of a Golden Age/Access Passport or of an America the Beautiful Interagency Senior or Access Pass. The Annual Pass is good at all similar day use facilities at any Corps project.

Note: Not all recreational facilities on Lake Cumberland are operated by the Corps of Engineers and thus the recreational fees charged, if any, are not necessarily compatible. Therefore, a camping permit from Lake Cumberland State Park will not admit you into Kendall Recreation Area. An Annual Pass from a marina that charges a launching fee will not admit you to launch at Waitsboro Recreation Area. Likewise a permit or pass issued by the Corps will not necessarily admit you into a State Park or allow you to launch at a Marina.

We regret that we cannot honor the Interagency Annual Pass. It is issued by federal agencies (including the National Park Service) who charge entrance fees and is an annual pass covering entrance fees only. The Corps does not charge entrance fees, only use fees.
