Requesting Vital Records

Vital records such as birth certificates are not kept at garrison locations. Information on this page is solely for the purpose of obtaining a copy of a birth certificate for U.S. personnel who were once assigned to the Wiesbaden area.

Born in a U.S. military hospital:

If the child was born in an actual U.S. military hospital (such as the former Wiesbaden Hospital from the Air Force days) contact the consulate in Frankfurt. Although records are not kept within the Consulate General they can direct you to the appropriate office to contact. Their website is www.frankfurt.usconsulate.gov.

Born in a German hospital:

If born in a local German hospital (i.e. the Horst Schmidt Klinik, St. Joseph's, etc.) contact the city's Rathaus/Standesamt. The Wiesbaden Standesamt is located at:

Remember, when dialing from outside of Germany, the country code is 49. You must also omit the first "0" in the number.
