How does the Air Force decide where to fly? What about noise?

A study is commissioned each time a change in frequency or aircraft type in proposed. The study is very exhaustive and does take a while to produce. It factors in all users for an airfield including civilian companies that work on military aircraft. How many people belong to the 433rd Airlift Wing?

About 3,400 men and women belong to the Alamo Wing.

How many ping pong balls could fit in a C-5 Galaxy?

Although no one has tried to fill up a C-5 with ping pong balls, the designers once did some math and found that about 25,844,746 will fit.

How old is the Alamo Wing?

The 433rd Airlift Wing is officially 56 years old, only 5 years younger than the entire Air Force.

When did the 433rd Airlift Wing start flying the C-5 Galaxy?

In June of 1984, the Alamo Wing became the first Reserve unit to own and operate it's own fleet of C-5s.

Why are the C-5's tires filled with nitrogen instead of plain air?

The tires of a C-5 are filled with nitrogen instead of the plain air we breathe because nitrogen is less susceptible to fluctuations in temperature and doesn't leak from the tire's sidewall as much.

Why is the 433rd Airlift Wing called the Alamo Wing?

When the wing was a pilot training wing it was nicknamed the Alamo Wing by students and instructors. in September of 1954, headquarters officially confirmed the name making it an approved and official means to identify the unit.
