Neighborhood Stabilization Resource DirectoryMortgage servicers and investors face historic large inventories of real estate owned (REO) properties resulting from foreclosures on single-family residential properties and other transactions resulting in receipt of title. These REO properties are often concentrated in particular neighborhoods and as such, their continued status as vacant properties can threaten the stability of impacted neighborhoods. This resource directory is intended primarily as a resource for banks and thrifts facing the need to transition REO properties to productive use, in the interest of the financial institutions and the communities in which these properties are located. We hope the resource directory will also be useful for community development corporations, local governments, and other community development practitioners who are also interested in stabilizing neighborhoods with concentrations of REO properties.
