Chief Master Sergeant David R. Wohleben
Chief Master Sergeant David R. Wohleben Wing Command Chief of the New York Air National Guard's 107th Airlift Wing at Niagara Falls Joint Air Reserve Station in Niagara Falls, New York. As the Wing Command Chief, he reports directly to the Wing Commander on enlisted personnel issues, to include professional military education, enlisted promotions, mentorship, morale, family, community relations, and esprit de corps.
Chief Master Sergeant Wohleben is from Sanborn, New York, where he attended Starpoint Central School, graduating in 1981. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended basic military training at Lackland AFB TX. His first assignment was with the 49th Component Repair Squadron at Holloman AFB, NM, as an F-15 Electronic Warfare Technician. After completing his four year active duty commitment, CMSgt. Wohleben returned home and joined the New York Air National Guard. He started his guard career in 1985 supervising the F-4C Avionics Age section. One year later, CMSgt. Wohleben was hired as a full time air technician. In 1990, his unit started its conversion to the F-16 and CMSgt. Wohleben was assigned to the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory. In 1994 his unit converted to the KC-135R and CMSgt. Wohleben was assigned to the In-Flight Air Refueling Specialist career field in which he was designated as a Distinguished Graduate. There he flew over 2500 hours and became an Instructor Boom Operator. He continued this career until he was called upon to take over as the Financial Management Superintendent in 2005. The Chief was selected for the position as Chief Enlisted Manager in early 2007. CMSgt. Wohleben holds a Master Degree in Business Administration with a major in Management and an AAS in Aircrew Operations. His military awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal. He is an active member in the Exchange Club of Lockport, Elks Lodge, and Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Lockport. He is the Treasurer of DeSales Catholic School, sits on the Board of Trustees and is the Chairman of the Budget, Finance and Investment Committee.
