Knowing is Half the Battle
March in Chicago is usually cold and wet (averaging 45 degrees, rainy, and cloudy). In fact, last March we had a few feet of snow and white out conditions. This March was completely different. We’ve had much warmer temperatures – 80 degrees and sunny!
While it may seem like a change from blustery March days, I wonder about the long term effect it has on crops, other species and the environment as a whole. Over time, what does it mean for us, other species, and the environment’s long term survival?
Weather is a daily condition of the atmosphere with regards to temperature, moisture, etc. Climate is the long term average of weather conditions over time. Climate change is a little trickier to understand. I found a video from EPA and other federal agencies that helps explain it and its effects on wildlife.
