The area of greatest concern of deployed personnel, after family, is personal finances according to a recent Air Force needs assessment. The Personal Financial Management Program helps individuals and family members with all aspects of money management by offering information, education and individual counseling.
INFORMATION is provided on such topics as: - Financial planning for deployment or remote tours - Money management - Consumer protection - Investments - Buying or selling a home
EDUCATION is available to assist with: - Checkbook maintenance - Credit management - Financial planning - Funding children's college education - Home buying - Car buying - Investments - Planning for financial aspects of your next move
COUNSELING is provided to help with: --An analysis of your personal financial status --Budgeting --Debt liquidation --Planning for Short and Long-Term Goals --Retirement Planning
All service members new to the military must attend a basic PFMP class at their first duty station after training and tech school. If the military member is in grades E-1 to E-4, they must attend this class each time they arrive at a new duty station during their first four-year tour. Spouses are always invited and encouraged to attend with them. This class teaches finance fundamentals of money management.
