Landscape Conservation Cooperatives

The Department of Interior (DOI) has identified Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs) as part of their strategy for protecting and managing the Nation’s treasured natural and cultural resources. LCCs provide a vehicle for States, Tribes, Federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities and other conservation partners to agree on common long-term goals. LCCs jointly develop the scientific information and tools needed to prioritize and guide more effective conservation actions toward these goals. These public-private partnerships are unique in that they bring all partners together to share science and conservation management needs and information so they may collectively build landscapes that ensure the sustainability of America's land, water, wildlife and cultural resources.

The U.S. Geological Survey National Wetlands Research Center supports this DOI management strategy through diverse activities. Actions range from conducting research that examines the ecological and conservation implications of alternative future climate and land use change scenarios to developing decision support and data management tools.
