The 36th Marine Corps Marathon wheelchair and hand cycle participants depart from the start line in one of the Nation’s largest group of cycle marathoners. The 26.2-mile “People’s Marathon” is the final race of the Marine Corps Marathon Event Series and host to more than 445,000 runners since the race began in 1976. 21,023 runners finished the race in 2011.
