Veterans Info

"Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met”

The U.S. Embassy welcomes Veterans who served in the Korean War.

To assist you with your stay in Korea, we have compiled the information on this web page.  Prior to your arrival in Korea, we encourage you to read this information carefully and to review the U.S. State Department’s South Korea country specific information page and Tips for Traveling Abroad.  These web pages contain important information regarding entry/exit requirements, health care and safety that will help you prepare for your trip.  Familiarizing yourself with medical, pharmaceutical, and emergency contact options in Korea prior to your travel will help ensure a smooth and safe visit.

Health Insurance
Are you covered? We encourage you to check with your current health care provider to determine if you have coverage overseas.

Korean hospitals generally do not accept foreign medical insurance and expect advance payment for services in the form of cash or credit cards from foreigners. The Department of State strongly urges U.S. citizens to consult with their medical insurance company prior to traveling abroad to confirm whether their policy applies overseas and if it will cover emergency expenses such as a medical evacuation. Please see our information on medical insurance overseas.
