The Pigment Cell Research Interest Group serves as a forum for scientists interested in the study of pigment cells from a wide variety of disciplines; our interests include the development, growth, differentiation and function of melanocytes and in characterizing properties of transformed melanocytes (termed malignant melanoma) that are critical to their growth as primary tumors and eventually to their metastasis. Members have varied interests in this topic which include the study of immunological, structural, developmental, biochemical and molecular/genetic properties of pigment cells.

The group holds informal and interactive seminars. This interest group hopes to foster synergistic interactions among members who have complementary interests and/or expertise. All members of the intramural community, as well as scientists from other institutions, are welcome to join and participate.
