  • On January 11, the third tranche of the fiscal year 2012 specialty sugar tariff-rate quota opened, allowing 19,051 metric tons raw value of foreign specialty sugars to enter the United States. This quota is targeted for organic sugar and other specialty sugars not currently produced commercially in the United States or reasonably available from domestic sources. A specialty sugar certificate valid for this fiscal year must accompany the sugar imported.
