CPD Maps Desk Guide (New as of 1/15/13)
The CPD Maps Desk Guide is an online user manual that provides an overview of the functions of CPD Maps. The Desk Guide includes step-by-step instructions describing how to use the tool to display data and create maps that will aid the development of the grantee's Consolidated Plan. The manual also contains reference information about the available data, and useful examples of maps that are relevant to the analyses in Consolidated Plans, such as areas of low- and moderate-income concentration.

CPD Maps contains a range of data that helps users illustrate the housing and economic conditions in their community by comparing census tracts based on factors such as housing values, vacancy rates, resident incomes, and unemployment, among others. The Desk Guide explains how to access these "thematic layers," as well as to compare geographies based on multiple variables through the CPD Maps' "Map Query" function.
CPD Maps also allows users to generate reports on housing, economic conditions, and homelessness based on geography selected through the mapping tool. The available reports are described in Appendix 3 of the Desk Guide.
