Budget
Budget Over the past few years, the federal government has ballooned to an unsustainable level and has spent taxpayer dollars recklessly. The Congressional Budget Office has forecasted that the U.S. will reach a federal deficit of more than $1 trillion dollars in 2012. That means that, under the Obama administration, the U.S. will have experienced four consecutive years with a deficit of more than $1 trillion. The largest deficit recorded before Obama took office was less than $500 billion in 2008. Because of the federal government’s out-of-control spending, I have supported numerous measures to freeze funding for, and often cut, federal programs. I still remain firm in the belief that the nation's fiscal crisis cannot be left for the next generation to solve and that a Balanced Budget Amendment is the only real solution to reining in our ballooning deficits, living within our means and paying down the national debt. Every day, Missouri families and businesses make tough choices to balance their own budgets, and the federal government should, too. Related Documents:
