30 years of DMO

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE N.M -- "30 Years of DMO & Simulation," a painting by Collette Morfin commissioned for the 30 anniversary, was unveiled at the Distributed Mission Operations Center on Nov. 6. In the painting are many symbols of the organization, including the base of the Sandia Mountains where the DMOC is located, highlighted letters M-SIM, which serve as the core environment generator spanning all three organizations: Identify Friend, Foe or Neutral Joint Test Force, the Theater Air Command and Control Simulation Facility and the Air Force Distributed Mission Operations Center. The Roman numeral XXX in the neck feathers of the eagle and the thirty stars in Old Glory denote the number of years these organizations have successfully prepared American warriors and our coalition partners to defend this great nation and more distant shores. The Zia in the eye of the eagle signifies New Mexico's place as a cornerstone of modeling, simulation and distributed mission operations while the shadows of the three unit insignias on the flag remind us this proud organization has been and will remain America's vanguard of high tech military training. The painting is on permanent display in the lobby of the DMOC. (U.S. Air Force photo)
