3D Assault Amphibian Battalion

1st Marine Division

Welcome

I would like to take a moment to welcome you to the 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion.  Built upon a fine legacy of professional excellence and a tradition of mission accomplishment in all parts of the world, the 6 companies and over 1,500 Marines and Sailors that comprise the 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion are among the very best the services have to offer.  In this battalion, we stand at the very “tip of the spear” providing a unique capability for all-weather surface movement from ship to shore and objectives inland found nowhere else in the Department of Defense.

Supporting the 1st Marine Division and the I Marine Expeditionary Force in numerous exercises and various overseas deployments requires the utmost in professionalism, integrity, tenacity, and trust from every member of this battalion to be the “most ready” when the Nation is the “least ready.”  Although it takes a considerable effort to keep our equipment in a high state of readiness, I have placed an even greater emphasis on the readiness of our most valuable resource… our Marines, Sailors, and families.

I recognize that with a high operational tempo, there are a number of challenges and demands both on duty and off duty.  Whether you are married or single, have a large or small family, living in the barracks, on base, or out in town, are a seasoned veteran or are here for your very first tour of duty, there are many resources both within the battalion and across the base to assist you in balancing your personal and professional life, making the greatest contribution possible to your unit, yourself, and your family during your time here.

There are a number of key individuals and programs that I would like to introduce here that will help you accomplish your mission and make this among your very best tours in the Marine Corps:

The Battalion Sergeant Major: Sergeant Major Clifford W. Wiggins.  The Sergeant Major can be reached at clifford.wiggins@usmc.mil. or 760-763-5058

Single Marine Program: Corporal Jonathon Langston.  The Single Marine Program was created to enhance the quality of life for single service members by providing positive and rewarding outlets through recreation, community involvement, and dynamic facilities.  As the 3D AABn representative, it is Corporal Langston's duty and responsibility to ensure that Marines are informed on all events and opportunities and serve as the central point of contact for event coordination.  He can be reached at jonathan.langston@usmc.mil or 760-725-2047.

Clubs and Intramurals: 3D AABn participates in competitive sports to build camaraderie and espirit de corps while showing our competitive nature among our fellow Marines in 1st Marine Division.  The sports teams that are offered are: soccer, softball, and football. Our battalion also participates in a locally organized Motorcycle Club and Skeet/Trap shooting club.  For more information on joining any of the sports teams contact Corporal Langston at jonathaon.langston@usmc.mil or 760-725-2047.

Religious Support: Lieutenant Commander Carl Stamper.  As the 3D AABn Chaplain, he is a key member of the staff who is focused on the spiritual development of all Marines, Sailors, and family members across the command.  He is a Christian, non-denominational pastor and can assist anyone in finding a church home, getting resources on how to grow spiritually, and answering spiritual questions.  Regardless of your spiritual background, he is available to talk about ANYTHING.  Understand that EVERYTHING you discuss with him will be kept confidential. He possesses a wealth of practical knowledge to provide sound advice on a very wide variety of subjects.  I value him as a spiritual guide and counselor to this command.  He can be reached at carl.stamper@usmc.mil or 760-725-2549.

Family Readiness: Ms. Donna Anderson.  Donna is our Family Readiness Officer.  A former Marine herself, she is the primary representative to provide command family readiness outreach, support, and assistance to the 3D AABn military personnel and their families.  Additionally, she is in a key position to connect our Marines, Sailors, and their families to the numerous programs and resources available in the battalion, on the base, and across the Department of Defense.  Donna can be reached at donna.n.anderson@usmc.mil or 760-725-6438.

In the 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion, we are only at our best when every member of the unit is at his best.  Through teamwork, mutual respect, and constant two-way communication, we enhance our readiness and can truly be our best when we leverage every opportunity that is afforded to us.  Please contact any of us to assist you with your transition to the battalion or to assist you anytime during your tour.

Again, welcome aboard.  I look forward to serving with you.

Semper Fidelis,
Lieutenant Colonel Hall
Commanding Officer
3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion
