BOSS

The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program is designed to improve the quality of life for single Soldiers and geographical bachelors on unaccompanied tours in USAREUR. Incorporating selfless service and inspiring the spirit of volunteerism are important to contrast with leisure and recreation. BOSS is also an outlet and a sounding board for issues that single Soldiers have within the garrison. The BOSS President works directly for the Garrison CSM and thereby is an excellent channel to sort out quality of life issues in an expedient manner. The Three Pillars which define the different aspects of BOSS and offer a balanced approach to living and succeeding as a Soldier both personally and professionally are:

Quality of Life - Ensuring that Soldiers have proper living conditions and amenities available to them as well as solving problems as they arise in a timely manner for barracks personnel.

This includes things that Soldiers can directly or indirectly influence to enhance their morale, living environment, or personal growth and development.

Recreation and Leisure Activities - BOSS Soldiers and the committees they appoint plan and organize trips, parties, events and other activities for BOSS eligible Soldiers to take part in during their off-time and weekends, often combining with other MWR groups and functions.

Community Service - Volunteering is an integral aspect of the overall BOSS mission. BOSS Soldiers offer their time and assistance for activities put on by both the different Heidelberg MWR programs as well as locally within the German community.
