LT Johnson is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and was commissioned in April 2006. After graduation, he taught school and coached baseball at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, TX.

He thanks God that he has the opportunity to serve with you at 1st Tanks. He was born in Houston, TX and grew up in Arlington, TX. He entered the Navy in December of 2003 as a Religious Specialist and served as a reservist for three years at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth.

In 2004, he entered Seminary at Truett Seminary in Waco, TX. He became a Chaplain Candidate in 2006 through 2009. During that time, he served as a Chaplain Candidate at the United States Naval Academy, in addition with the Naval Seals in Coronado Island and the Coast Guard in San Diego.

In 2008, he completed Chaplain School in Newport Rhode Island. In 2009, he entered the Navy as a chaplain in the reserves with Operation Health Support Unit Dallas. In 2010, he served with OHSU Dallas in Panama as a chaplain contributing to the healthcare of many people in that region.

In the summer of 2010, he served in Misawa Japan at Naval Air Station Misawa. He enjoyed serving in Japan where his grandfather served as a pilot in the US Navy during World War II. During his time in Japan, he learned to be available for our service members and he finished off the time there by climbing Mount Fuji.

In December of 2010, he came to 29 Palms as a full time Navy Chaplain. In January of 2011, he served with 3d Battalion, 7th Marines and deployed to Afghanistan in September 2011. He returned from deployment in April 2012 and he joined 1st Tank Battalion in June 2012.
