Capabilities
Recognized around the world for its expertise in the medical management of radiation incidents, the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS) at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) provides radiation incident response, consultation and preparedness training, and participates in simulation exercises to address the medical aspects of human exposure to ionizing radiation.
As REAC/TS continues to establish international partnerships through education, exercises and conferences, the group is strengthening radiological emergency preparedness and response around the globe. REAC/TS is one of seven deployable assets of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and is one of only 13 collaborating centers worldwide in the Radiation Emergency Medical Preparedness and Assistance Network of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Cytogenetic Biodosimetry
REAC/TS maintains a cytogenetic biodosimetry laboratory that supports the medical community in the evaluation, triage and management of patients with acute radiation injuries.
Continuing Medical Education
REAC/TS courses offer a blend of stimulating lectures and hands-on exercises. You can register for regularly scheduled courses or request customized courses that can be delivered at your facility.
