I am appreciative of Dr. Wells and Cape Fear Valley Health Hoke Hospital staff for taking the time to talk with me and share their valuable experiences delivering quality health care to our community. I look forward to taking what we've discussed here and sharing it as Congress works to advance patient-centered, market-based reforms that make health care affordable for all.

Like I've said before, we’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare in an open, thoughtful and transparent way – with input from both sides of the aisle, from doctors and patients, from insurance companies and businesses, and most importantly, from you.

As Representative of the Eighth District, I believe providing top-notch constituent services and being accessible are two of the most important parts of my job.

I’m hosting an open house at our new Fayetteville district office tomorrow because I want to hear what’s on your minds and let your know about all the services my office can provide for you and others in our community. I look forward to seeing you there!

It's truly an honor to nominate talented local students to our prestigious service academies. We’re so proud of these young men and women for what they’ve accomplished and expect great things from them in the future!

Like I told WSOC-TV, we're going to put patients in charge of their health care. We're going to take the bureaucrats out of the way and we're going to create a system that works for everybody.

Last week, Congress took the first step to repealing and replacing Obamacare. A lot of you might be wondering, what’s the next step?

As a leader on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Health – the epicenter of health care reform – I’m proud to give North Carolina a voice on this important process.

Today I continued the important conversation about health care reform with Carolinas HealthCare System Northeast President Phyllis Wingate and other hospital leadership.

I had a great discussion with local health care providers at Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center. I'm working to repeal Obamacare and implement patient-centered, market-based reforms that make health care more affordable for all.

Today’s vote is the beginning of the end of Obamacare. For nearly seven years, we’ve dealt with a government-knows-best health care system. It has increased health care costs, restricted access to quality care and put bureaucrats between us and our doctors. We need to put Americans back in control of their own health care. This is the first step to do that and pave the way for patient-centered, affordable health care.

We need a regulatory system that is transparent; one that balances the needs of our environment and public safety with economic strength and jobs; one that benefits hardworking Americans - not big government. That's why I voted for the Regulatory Accountability Act to rein in the federal regulatory system with more accountability and transparency.

The Health Subcommittee is the epicenter for health care reform, and I’m proud to give North Carolina a seat at the table on such an important issue. One of our first priorities is repealing Obamacare and replacing it with patient-centered, market-based reforms that make health care more affordable.

The bottom line is, the American people deserve better than the past eight years of failed promises and a 1950’s-style, one-size-fits-all, government-run health care system. We’re going to give them better.

As your Congressman, I'm working to repeal Obamacare and advance patient-centered reforms that strengthen your relationship with your doctor, reduce costs and increase access. I want to hear from you about your ideas and experiences.

  • An open letter to the congressional representatives of the great sta...te of North Carolina who are refusing to attend the inauguration of President-elect Trump. If you are attending, please forward this letter to our fellow members of Congress who are either not attending or considering not attending: Dear Honorable North Caroline Member of Congress; The inauguration of the President of the US is a long-standing symbol of the peaceful transition of leadership that has been part of the history of our great country since its inception. By refusing to attend the inauguration, you are violating our long-standing tradition. Although you may not agree with the majority of the country who elected President-elect Trump, the inauguration is not the place to show our disagreement by disrespecting the office of President. Some of you have said you prayed about it and can’t, in good conscience, attend. Did you read your Bible? The basis of prayer is the truth of God as found in the Bible. We are told in scripture to pray for and honor those in authority. For example, 1 Sam 24:6 talks about respecting the authority of those over us and Romans 13:1-2 says, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment.” 1 Timothy 1-2 tells us to pray for those in authority. It is our prayer that you will reconsider your decision and properly honor the great office of the President of the United States. Sincerely; WJ and SS Borden, Cary, NC See More
  • Congressman Hudson, as a North Carolina family, we love the freedom ...to watch filtered movies! While we appreciate movies produced by Hollywood, some movies have bits of language, inappropriate sexual content, excessive violence, and other subject matter that is inappropriate for our family. We have enjoyed using Vidangel’s streaming filtering service to be able to screen out the foul language and other things that we can do without having to preview ourselves as parents before enjoying with our children. We do not feel Hollywood should be able to tell us how to watch movies in our own homes! We very much appreciated Congress’ passing the Family Movie Act in 2005, but apparently Hollywood isn’t listening, because they’ve sued everyone who has tried to offer filtering to families like ours, Vidangel being the latest. As Hollywood apparently doesn’t respect the language in the original Family Movie Act, we call upon you to amend it to state specifically that streamed filtering is legal, and that our rights as parents to have access to filtering solutions for entertainment will be protected. As always, we appreciate your efforts on behalf of families and will observe your actions in this matter with interest. See More
