Robert Carl "Shof" Shofner, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Program Executive Officer for Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) and Director of the BES Directorate, Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Ala. The BES portfolio is comprised of more than 1,800 military, civil service and contractor support personnel located at five bases throughout the United States with total funding exceeding $1.1 billion. The organization acquires, operates and sustains operational support information technology systems for the Air Force and the Department of Defense.

Mr. Shofner entered the Air Force as a commissioned officer in 1982 through the Air Force ROTC program at the University of South Carolina. He served for 28 years in a variety of program, staff, headquarters and command positions, including wing command. He served on the staff of the Secretary of the Air Force; managed programs and funding for the nation's most sensitive space systems; conducted worldwide demonstrations and analyses of Air Force warfighting capabilities; and led the modernization of the nation's premier weapon systems.

Mr. Shofner also served a deployment to Iraq as the Director of Operations for the Joint Contracting Command. He last served as Director of the Enterprise Sourcing Group at Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio after retiring Aug. 2010 in the grade of colonel. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service In May 2011.
