Congressman Kurt Schrader today released the following statement after House of Representatives passage of H.R. 8, a bill to extend all Bush-era Tax Cuts:

"The bills brought before the House today to extend the Bush-era tax cuts were nothing more than renewed political posturing," Schrader said. "They do not reduce our federal deficit or make critical investments our country needs. Our nation's tax system is broken and overly complex. We need a complete revision of the tax code that gets rid of most of the tax loopholes that Oregonians rarely use, lowers the rates for everyone and puts revenue back on the table. The time for political games is over. Comprehensive tax reform is the only solution to reducing our federal deficit, ensuring our recovery and putting the United States back on a path of any kind of financial sustainability."
