MANDATORY BRIEFINGS

YOU MUST BE IN DUTY UNIFORM TO ATTEND ALL BRIEFINGS

There are two mandatory briefings that all Soldiers retiring from the Army must attend:  The Pre-retirement briefing and the Survivor Benefit Plan briefing.  Both have been combined into one briefing for the convenience of the Soldier and Family members.  The briefing is conducted the first and third Thursday of every month in Building 2577A (In/Out Processing) Screaming Eagle Blvd, Room 103A from 1230-1600.  Briefings should be attended between the retirement application submission date and 120 days before the retirement date (or start of transition leave).  Spouses are strongly encouraged to attend.
Briefing subjects - Retirement Processing, Retired Pay Issues, Transportation, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, ID Cards, Employment, Combat Related Special Compensation,  Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay, and the Survivor Benefit Plan. Access briefing slides here.  Survivor Benefit Plan Briefing.  Pre-retirement Briefing.

Career Status Bonus (CSB)/REDUX Retired Pay Plan briefings are conducted the second Thursday of each month at 1300 in Building 2577A, Room 103A. All Soldiers are required to receive this briefing and make an election no more than six months after notification of eligibility.

WHAT'S THE STATUS OF MY RETIREMENT APPLICATION?

We at the Retirement Services Office often receive calls from Soldiers concerning the status of their retirement application. Here is some background on the retirement application process timeline. After the retirement application and all required documentation is received by our office they are forwarded to HRC for approval. In most cases this is done within 24 hours.   Remember, a heavy volume of requests for information via phone or email causes an increase in the time it takes our office to do our part of the processing. This, in turn, slows the entire process down. A new service has been added to allow Enlisted Soldiers to check the status of their retirement application at HRC by going to the following web site:  http://www.hrc.army.mil .  Click on the "My Records" portal.  Select "Tools" and then "Active Enlisted Rtmt/Sep Status."  At present officers do not have this capability.
