In 1994 the Office of Research and Development (ORD) instituted standard operating procedures for peer review and created the Peer Review Division (PRD) in the National Center for Environmental Research (NCER).
The Peer Review Division (PRD) is charged with conducting rigorous External Peer Review of extramural research proposals submitted primarily to NCER’s Requests for Applications (RFA) on a particular research topic.
PRD ensures that ORD standards for excellence are met by conducting the highest level of independent peer review and quality assurance for all of NCER-funded science products and programs.
PRD’s Mission Statement: Our mission is to conduct external peer reviews that support high quality research by the nation’s leading scientists that will improve the scientific basis for decisions on national environmental issues and help EPA achieve its goals.
