Va. Guard chaplains provide service to Guardsmen during Presidential Inauguration

C. — As Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen assisted with security operations for the 57th Presidential Inauguration, Virginia Guard chaplains augmented the District of Columbia National Guard’s chaplain corps by supporting personnel from D.C., Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Virginia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and West Virginia from Jan. 20-21, 2013. The chaplain support teams, consisting of two chaplains and two chaplain assistants, provided religious support, counseling and a network of liaisons to Soldiers and Airmen. “My primary focus is providing religious and counseling support to the service members supporting the inauguration,” said Chaplain (Maj.) Partners in Care initiative links faith-based and non-profit groups with Soldiers and Airmen in need
Posted on May 15, 2012 | No CommentsFORT PICKETT, Va. — More than 85 representatives of faith-based and non-profit organizations from across Virginia took part in the kickoff for the “Partners in Care” initiative May 14 at Fort Pickett. The program is an alliance between the Virginia National Guard Chaplain Corps and groups looking to assist Soldiers, Airmen and their families during a time of need. “By the end of the day, 50 groups signed up to partner with us in care,” said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) J. D. Spiritual Fitness is IAW AR 600-63, Chapter 6-2 (d). In the spirit of the regulation the Chaplain Corps recognizes each individuals freedom to worship or not worship. This email is forwarded to those who wish to incorporate spiritual fitness into their daily routine. The regulation reads: “In providing for self-development activities, commanders and other leaders must ensure they do not favor one form of religion over another.
