A nice group of diversity interns 'landed' at the Woods Hole Field Center on June 5th! They will
be working over the summer on the Marine Realms Information Bank (MRIB) Project characterizing
information objects, developing information ontology for the marine environment, and automating
query and display functions of the MRIB sorting engine.
Pictured left to right in the photograph at right on the
front steps of the MRIB house are: Rebecca Riall (USGS employee, former Diversity Intern),
Fran Hotchkiss (USGS Physical Oceanographer), Tom Aldrich (USGS Marine Operations Specialist,
MRIB Enthusiast), Arthur Hardy-Doubleday (WHOI/USGS Minority Fellow), Derrick Hill (Diveristy Intern),
Gina Diaz (Diversity Intern) and Fausto Marincioni (USGS Geographer).
