Sensor Specifications: IRS-1A and 1B

Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) 1A was launched in 1988, followed by 1B in 1991. Both of these sateillites carry two different imaging sensors: Linear Imaging Self Scanner (LISS) 1 and 2. These satellites have a polar, circular, sun-synchronous 904-km orbit with a 22-day repeat cycle. The LISS 1 swath width is 148 km. The satellite has two identical LISS 2 instruments with a 3-km overlap, yielding a total LISS 2 swath width of 145 km.
