GLOBE is an interagency program with a management infrastructure funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). GLOBE is also supported by the U.S. Department of State and implemented through a cooperative agreement between NASA and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). 

GLOBE is a cooperative effort of schools in partnership with:                                                                      

  • Colleges and universities
  • State and local school systems
  • Government and private organizations                                                                                                                                           

 

All work in a collaborative fashion to better understand, sustain and improve Earth's environment at local, regional and international scales. Internationally, GLOBE is a partnership between the United States of America and over 100 countries who manage and support their ow GLOBE effors on national and regional scales.

The GLOBE Program Office (GPO), develops and supports the worldwide infrastructure for participating schools, scientists and communities and is advised on strategic international program directions from the GLOBE International Advisory Committee (GIAC). The GIAC consists of regional leaders in science, education, industry and public policy. In turn, GPO staff memebrs are experts in education, science,  website and database technologies, international communications, partnership development, customer service and information. NASA, NOAA, NSF and key members of UCAR management also provide high-level policy guidance to the Program Office.
