A Little Boat with a Long Legacy

A small yellow boat became an international celebrity last month when it was found on the beach at Point Pelee National Park in Ontario, Canada. What at first looked like a lost toy turned out to be “Paddle to the Sea” Boat Number 7, one of nine small wooden boats that were first launched in Lake Erie 17 years ago. here.

Research meteorologist Keith Dixon studies climate at NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL). During his more than twenty years at GFDL, Keith’s research has focused on using complex computer models to study climate change and variability.
