BBG Journalists Cover Obama’s Second Inauguration

Barack Obama was sworn in for a second term as President of the United States Jan. 21 and Broadcasting Board of Governors journalists were on hand to cover the day-long celebration for their audiences around the world.

Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa, Radio and TV Martí and Radio Free Asia all covered the events, which included the swearing ceremony at the Capitol, the parade up Pennsylvania Avenue and the Inaugural Balls at night.

BBG journalists were stationed across Washington, including on the roof of the agency’s building at the foot of Capitol Hill, where they gathered audio, video, and photographs that became part of a comprehensive package of coverage.
