Colonel William A. Blanchette is commander of the 433rd Medical Group, one of four groups assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 433D Airlift Wing, located at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. As Group Commander, he is responsible for the operations of three reserve medical units: the 433rd Aerospace Medicine Squadron, the 433rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron and the 433rd Medical Squadron. He is the principal medical advisor to the 433D Airlift Wing Commander, Lackland Air Force Base.

Colonel Blanchette enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1975 and in the Missouri Air National Guard in 1980 serving as a ground radio communication equipment repairman. Colonel Blanchette was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Army National Guard Base, Tenn., in February 1986. After commissioning, he served as officer in charge, maintenance control and later as squadron tactical engineer. Colonel Blanchette transferred to the Air Force Reserve, Joint Transportation Reserve Unit in March 1993, as a medical regulating officer and later as a patient movement manager. In subsequent assignments Colonel Blanchette has served as a medical readiness officer, medical support flight commander, senior administrator, assistant to the Deputy Command Surgeon at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, as well as commanding an aeromedical staging squadron.

He has deployed in support of operations Uphold Democracy, and Enduring Freedom.
