Preservation of the Force & Families Preservation of the Force & Families

After more than 10 years of combat operations, Special Operations servicemembers and their families are feeling the strains and pressures of multiple deployments and busy training schedules. To ensure everyone within the U.S. Special Operations Command has the resources available to them to deal with those stresses, a 'Preservation of the Force and Families' Task Force was asked to identify problems and underlying symptoms, as well as highlight best practices of service specific and Special Operations Forces programs designed to support servicemembers and their families.  The task force gathered information from more than 400 focus groups that consisted of more than 7,000 servicemembers and 1,000 spouses from 55 different units across the globe.

In keeping with USSOCOM's initiative, this site has been developed to keep Air Commandos aware of resources specifically aimed at holistic readiness and health for themselves and their supportive families.

Key Spouse Program
The 352 SOG has a robust key spouse program. Each squadron has a primary key spouse who mobilizes the other spouses within that squadron. They make time to meet and support each other. They ensure newcomers are welcomed into their unit and they also pitch in for various support programs within the group. The Key Spouses support our annual holiday dorm dinner, held for all our unaccompanied airmen in the dorms. They head up a cookie drive for unaccompanied airmen and provide support for an annual Fall Fest akin to an indoor costume party with bouncy castles, games and treats. All the squadrons contribute their time, candy, money from their booster clubs to make the event a success.

Each quarter the group holds an Introduction to Special Operations Group for all newcomers and their spouses to the group. They spend the day touring the different squadrons, getting mission briefs and demonstrations all to ensure they have a good grasp of what the group does and how they fit into the mission.

With the help of the AFRC, we conduct a family retreat, a spouses retreat and singles retreat primarily focused on recent deployers, but open to all.
Each year we hold a Spouses Day/Family Day where spouses are brought in for a morning of fun and education. They receive mission's briefs, demonstrations from units within the group and some base support agencies and are treated to an incentive flight. In the afternoon there's a potluck for all members of the group.

For more information, contact your unit's key spouse through your first sergeant.
