Job Description

Administrative Clerk 1

PURPOSE: To provide routine clerical and administrative assistance in various offices on an as needed basis. There is no guarantee as to the number of hours of work available.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

  • Specific duties vary with the particular pool assignment. The following is intended to be a representative grouping and is not comprehensive, but reflects the type of pool requests we commonly receive.

 

  • Typing letters, forms, and documents (could include a variety of functions ranging from the basic formatting of letters to more intermediate functions such as tables, columns, merging, pagination, indexing, etc.) using MS Word.

 

  • Filing, sorting mail, operating copiers, sending/receiving faxes, and answering telephones.

 

  • Entering data into database applications or other software applications.

 

  • Preparing outgoing mailings, which may include collating material and stuffing envelopes.

 

  • Performing a variety of routine general clerical and administrative tasks.

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, with at least six months of office experience. Must have basic to intermediate knowledge and skills using MS Word, as well as basic working knowledge of MS Excel. Basic working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of general office skills and procedures, such as filing, copying, answering phones, and applying written and oral instructions necessary. Must have demonstrated knowledge of appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation with the ability to proofread and make corrections to documents, as well as demonstrated typing ability. Should be available for work on an intermittent basis and often on short notice.
