There will be a water outage at Newman Fitness Center tomorrow 30 Nov. from 0500-2000 hours due to renovation of the locker rooms. We would like to inform you of some exciting news at Winn Army Community Hospital (Winn) and Tuttle Healthcare Clinic (Tuttle). Enrollment space is now available at Winn and Tuttle for TRICARE Prime Active Duty Family Members. Over the past year, beneficiaries enrolling at Winn and Tuttle had to be assigned to a civilian network Primary Care Manager (PCM) due to lack of provider enrollment capacity. By hiring additional medical staff, we have managed to turn this around and we want you back!

If you would like to transfer your current enrollment from your civillian provider to a provider at Winn or Tuttle, there are three options: you can visit the TRICARE Service Center (TSC), complete a PCM request form online at www.humana-military.com or request the change over the phone by calling 1-800-444-5445.

Please note that all PCM change requests can take from 48-72 hours to process. Therefore, to ensure continuity of care, only acute appointments can be booked at Winn or Tuttle until the reassignment of PCM is completed.

Should you need further information, you can always visit the TRAICARE Service Center at Winn or Tuttle or you may contact the Winn Enrollment Coordinator at 912-435-6282.

We hope to see you soon!

In preparation for this Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend all privately owned vehicles must be inspected. A copy of the vehicle inspection checklist must be submitted to the Medical Company NLT COB on 24 NOV 10. This is mandatory for all military staff members; optional for civilian staff members.

GAT ACCESS MADE EASIER

Comprehensive Soldier Fitness has developed an easier way for Family members to log into the Soldier Fitness Tracker and take the Family Global Assessment Tool (GAT). First, register in the Soldier Fitness Tracker and create a user name and password. Then log into the Family GAT and answer the …questions, which will take 15 to 20 minutes. After completing the GAT you’ll be able to access the Comprehensive Resilience Modules, which provide online training in each of the dimensions of CSF.

Family members must be registered in DEERS; they can use their own or their spouse’s Social Security to set up an account. You can access the Family GAT online at:

Recently the social engineering site FACEBOOK has introduced a new feature:

Places I Checked Into“.  This feature allows “friends” to see exactly where you are logging in from.

Various OPSEC and DoD forums have indicated (via open source reporting) British forces have been targeted by terrorist/insurgent cells in the SWA AOR by using this feature.

Tactically, this FACEBOOK feature can be employed by an adversary to refine targeting and corroborate intelligence on specific sensitive locations and/or exploitable personnel.

Please ensure your personnel are aware of this risk.

Migration begins in February 2011

During 2011, Army email users will transition to an Enterprise Email service managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency. Instead of accessing email through local email servers at each installation, users will reach through the network to access email services from DoD data centers. This new approach provides significant capability improvements for email users.

Benefits of Enterprise Email

  • 4 gigabytes of on-line email storage – 40 times the current 100 megabyte limit, at no additional cost
  • 500 megabyte webmail accounts for those who don’t normally use Army email to perform their duties
  • Better webmail interface with the look and feel of Microsoft Outlook
  • Access to email from anywhere, at any time, from any authorized device
  • Share individual, organizational, and resource calendars across the enterprise
  • Find email addresses and contact information for Army and DoD email users at other locations across DoD
  • Keep your email account active during PCS moves and unit relocations

On behalf of Mr. Barzie Drewry, I am pleased to forward the announcement of CP-34 scholarships to attend IT Courses at the Signal Center of Excellence at Ft. Gordon GA.  Scholarship funds are very limited and competition is keen.  There is no guarantee of receiving a scholarship but Signal Center courses are in high demand so you are encouraged to apply.  Scholarships will cover the cost of travel and per diem.  There is no cost for the 5-day course.

The course list, schedule and a brief course description are in the attached documents.

The scholarships are available for Jan thru May 2011 courses.  The deadline for submissions to the undersigned are

  • 2nd QTR:  NLT 03 JAN 2011 OR WHEN CLASS IS FULL, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST
  • 3rd QTR:  NLT 01 MAR 2011 OR WHEN CLASS IS FULL, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST

MEDCOM had 11 individuals approved last year.  This opportunity is open Army-wide so the limited number of spaces will likely fill well before the suspense date.  If you’re interested in a class and qualify, send in your application now.

Eligibility requirements will be strictly enforced by Army so please review the eligibility information before applying.  CP-34 funds are very limited and serve a large population Army-wide.  The Army G-6 office attempts to serve as many CP-34 careerists as possible so those careerists who have already received CP-34 funds for Outreach courses, received a LandWarNet scholarship, etc are not eligible for Signal Center scholarships.

While this office nominates careerists for scholarships, it’s the Army G-6 office that selects the recipients so please give special attention to the justification section of the application (“PURPOSE OF TRAINING & UTILIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS – 100 Words”).  Be sure to indicate how both the Army/organization AND the employee will benefit from this training.

Applicants should complete the attached application form and return it in an ENCRYPTED e-mail to the undersigned NLT the deadline specified above.

For information on Ft Gordon’s Signal Center of Excellence, go to www.signal.army.mil.
