The Gold Standard
Fort Knox, KY | October 18, 2012
The Fort Knox Community Schools recently received $175,000 to construct a JROTC obstacle course adjacent to Bldg. 7474A, near Scott Middle School, said Tim Adkisson, FKCS Facilities Operations Specialist. The course will include 15 obstacles aimed at improving physical fitness. Prime contractor is All Cities. Construction will begin within 90 days with completion within one year. The course will support Fort Knox High School's Raider team, a JROTC-sponsored extracurricular activity open to all cadets. Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Scott Akin, the high school's JROTC senior Army instructor, said, "Additionally, other school teams can use this course for team building exercises. We intend this program to be a model for the rest of the country; an obstacle course will allow us to host a quality Raider meet every year and showcase our school and program."
