Federal Assistance to Improve Crescent City Water Resources

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman John L. Mica (R-Putnam) today announced that Crescent City has been awarded $500,000 in federal funds to improve water services for their community.
“Replacing old asbestos cement water lines with new water lines is important for ensuring that the residents of Crescent City receive clean and safe drinking water,” said Rep. Mica.
The funds approved will also allow the city to replace an aging water delivery system that has begun to leak.  “The existing cement lines are corroding and adversely effect water services to local residents.  With the water shortages some areas in our district are already experiencing, it is important that our water delivery systems operate efficiently,” Rep. Mica stated.
“Putnam County citizens pay a significant amount of federal taxes to Washington, and I am pleased that these funds along with those recently awarded by Congress for Emergency Storm Shelter at Crescent City High School will be returned to benefit our community,” said Rep. Mica.
The funds are included in a federal appropriations bill that has been pending since last October.
