The Public Health Informatics Institute (a program of the Task Force for Global Health) works with public health professionals and their stakeholders on projects centered around requirements development, practice support and informatics training. Our mission is to improve health outcomes worldwide by transforming health practitioners’ ability to apply information effectively.

PHII works with public health professionals and their stakeholders on projects centered on requirements development, practice support and informatics education, to improve community health outcomes through more effective use of information.

Global Health Practitioners

Working with public and private partners around the world, PHII brings proven informatics tools and approaches to global health practitioners, helping countries to apply universal information management practices to improve local health outcomes.

Epidemiologists

PHII works with public health epidemiologists in promoting the use of informatics principles, tools and techniques within surveillance and epidemiology practice to support the collection, reporting and sharing of public health data.

Informatics Educators

PHII has worked with leaders in public health training to develop applied informatics curricula, create and launch the Informatics Academy training model, and provide training for practitioners, epidemiologists, and Fellows, to build needed informatics capacity in the public health workforce.

Policy Makers and Health Officers

PHII works with leading public health associations that represent public health at all levels of government, helping them to develop a consolidated advocacy agenda that raises the potential impact of the public health voice in matters of policy, regulation, funding, and population health...

Foundations and Funding Agencies

PHII works on projects funded by various private foundations and government agencies to develop and implement programs that make a strategic difference in how public health agencies design and use information systems.

Technology Vendors

Through application of the Institute’s methodology, public health agencies at all levels are able to identify and document shared business processes, and clearly articulate the functional requirements for information systems to support their work.
