Description:

The Institute established the Researcher and Policymaker Training Program for two purposes. First, Researcher Training projects are intended to help current education researchers maintain and upgrade their methodological skills. The specific intent of this type of project is to prepare researchers to be able to conduct the type of research that the Institute funds including the preparation of competitive proposals that address relevant education topics and meet the methodological requirements specified for the Institute's research grant competitions.

Second, Policymaker Training projects are intended to provide evidence from rigorous education research to education practitioners and policymakers working on a specific program or policy. The practitioners and/or policymakers may come from the same or different levels within the education system (e.g., school, district, state education agency, state government). In addition to providing a forum for education researchers to share the latest evidence on an issue with policymakers and practitioners, these projects are to also offer policymakers and practitioners an opportunity to talk with researchers regarding their own informational needs. The Institute is especially interested in Policymaker Training projects that include collaborations between researchers and State education agencies, local education agencies, nonprofits, and/or professional associations.
