Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) provides a full listing of all Federal programs available to State and local governments (including the District of Columbia); federally-recognized Indian tribal governments; Territories (and possessions) of the United States; domestic public, quasi- public, and private profit and nonprofit organizations and institutions; specialized groups; and individuals.

As of July 17, 2012 detailed program descriptions are listed for 2,238 Federal assistance programs.

The Internet and GSA’s free CFDA website at http://www.cfda.gov will be the primary means of disseminating the Catalog.

Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) Export Promotion Program

Incentive: The Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) Export Promotion Program targets small-and medium-sized export-ready firms by providing support, facilitation, and program venues for sales of U.S.-made textile and apparel products in overseas markets.

OTEXA’s Export Program includes export-counseling, seminars, sponsorship of trade missions, U.S.A. pavilions in major international trade events, and market research to identify key export opportunities in selected markets.

Eligibility: U.S. companies interested in participating in an OTEXA-sponsored event must use the event to promote the sale of textile and apparel products or services. They must be a U.S.

The U.S. textile industry is one of the more important employers in the manufacturing sector, with over 235,000 workers, representing 2 percent of the U.S. manufacturing workforce.

Textile industry workers are highly skilled, and the industry is technologically advanced, with investments upward of $1.4 billion a year in total capital expenditures. In recent years, U.S. textile companies have focused on retooling their businesses, finding more effective work processes, investing in niche products and markets, and controlling costs.

The industry is globally competitive, ranking third in global export value behind the European Union and China. U.S.

Foreign Trade Zone Boards

Reviews FTZ applications, designates site licenses, and provides information/education concerning how special customs procedures allowing domestic activity involving foreign items may be used in FTZ. FTZ can offset customs advantages available to overseas producers who compete with domestic producers. Helps facilitate and expedite international trade and exports, attract offshore activity and the retention of domestic activity, and create employment opportunities.
