NSWC - Corona Division

Corona Aerial View

Corona is the Navy's only independent analysis and assessment center, employing highly specialized scientists and engineers, the so-called "Corona Engineers." In addition to our employees, we have two premiere national assets that enable us to serve the warfighter: the Joint Warfare Assessment Laboratory the cornerstone of Corona's integrated approach to warfare assessment and the focal point of internal and external global interconnectivity; and the Measurement Science and Technology Laboratory where we perform measurement science R&D and establish and maintain metrology and calibration procedures for the warfighter in our state-of-the-art laboratory.

As the lead analysis agent for Navy surface ship combat systems, Corona has refined a unique collaborative analysis process that utilizes the talents of a wide array of government and contractor agencies. Corona has the data collection and transmission infrastructure at the primary Fleet ranges and the engineering skills needed to define and prioritize data necessary for rapid, on-range feedback of test and exercise results.

We work closely with procurement program managers and the Fleet to ensure the products and services support program milestones in a timely manner. Whether the task is producing an analysis report, maintaining a database, or riding a ship to assess combat systems or missile fight performance during a test or training exercise, our leadership and employees are aware of the requirement to have available resources on a 24/7 basis to meet Fleet requirements.

Mission

Serve warfighters and program managers as the Navy's independent performance assessment agent throughout systems' lifecycles by gauging the Navy's warfighting capability of weapons and integrated combat systems, from unit to force level, through assessment of those systems' performance, readiness, quality, supportability, and the adequacy of training. Execute other responsibilities as assigned by the Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center.

Vision

We serve the warfighter and contribute to our nation's security through our recognized excellence in independent assessment.
