Staff Contact

Hector Lopez, ScD

Description

This program covers computed tomography (CT), computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), digital fluoroscopy (DF), and related modalities. Research areas of support include the development of: flat panel detector arrays and other detector systems; flat-panel CT; CT reconstruction algorithms for the cone-beam geometry of multi-slice CT; approaches to radiation dose reduction, especially with CT; and novel x-ray applications, such as those utilizing scattered radiation, tissue-induced x-ray phase shifts, etc.

Relevant Study Sections

Bioengineering, Technology and Surgical Science (BTSS)
Biomedical Imaging Technology (BMIT)
Instrumentation and Systems Development (ISD)
Medical Imaging (MEDI)
Microscopic Imaging (MI)
Small Business Biomedical Imaging IRG (SBMI)

A complete listing of review groups and study sections can be found at the Center for Scientific Review (http://cms.csr.nih.gov/PeerReviewMeetings/).

Program staff recommend that principal investigators include a cover letter listing areas of scientific expertise needed to review the application and how the expertise should be balanced (please do not include names), or potential study section assignments. Questions may be directed to the program director mentioned above.
