The Community-Based Division (CBD) programs provide funding to increase access to care in rural communities. Through eight grant programs and multiple contracts, over 300 grants have been awarded.
The Community Based Division staff are focused on peer-peer learning and coordinated technical assistance. In order to assist grantees, project officers have specific expertise in the primary issue areas addressed in the application. The Outreach, Network Development and Quality grant cycles are staggered to award more grants per year and efficiently manage sustainability and evaluation.
CBD maintains partnerships to provide technical assistance, evaluation, and best practices models for grantees. We work with Georgia State University's Health Policy Center on issues of sustainability, evaluation and collaboration. We coordinate with NORC and The University of Minnesota to continuously monitor and evaluate grant programs.
Every year, CBD conducts several Grants Technical Assistance Workshops in partnership with the State Offices of Rural Health. These workshops are designed to educate rural health providers and advocates about upcoming community-based grant funding opportunities from HRSA, encourage community organizations to apply, and increase organizations' capacities in obtaining future grant funds.
