Grissom Air Reserve Base and the 434th Air Refueling Wing play an important role in America's defense, and in the Indiana economy. The annual impact of the base on the local economy is upwards of $100 million. The base has also been designated as a "Tree City" by the National Arbor Day Foundation and has won numerous Department of Defense awards for environmental excellence.
