What's New in NextGen

Implementing NextGen initiatives involves complex activities ranging from concept development to deployments of capabilities in the National Airspace System (NAS).

New ADS-B radio stations regularly become operational. Additionally, the network includes advisory services and separation services. A service volume is a defined volume of airspace in the NAS within which a set of ADS-B services are available and achieved the required performance for the set of services.

Since December, new service volumes included:

• 4 Advisory Terminal Service Volumes
• 4 Separation Terminal Service Volumes

More specific localized capabilities enabled by ADS-B and a description of the three types of service volumes (En Route, Terminal and Surface) can be found on the NextGen website under technical maps.

Since December, we published new satellite-based navigation procedures:

• WAAS LPVs - 25

Satellite-based procedures, updated every eight weeks, are real implementations that currently provide benefits. These implemented procedures and identification of other implementations are on our interactive maps.
