Brigadier General Richard Gallant

Commander, Land Component Command

Brigadier General Richard Gallant is the Commander, Land Component Command for the Florida National Guard. He enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard in 1981 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in 1982. He transferred to the Florida Army National Guard in 1988.

During his career, Brigadier General Gallant served in key assignments including: Commander, 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team; Deputy Commander, 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team; Commander, 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment; Operations Officer, 53rd Infantry Brigade and Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment.

He holds a Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Bridgewater and a Master’s Degree from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Florida Cross. He has been awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency.
