As one of the major highlights of Federal Executive Board activity, this program offers an excellent opportunity for public recognition of Federal employees who have demonstrated outstanding performance on the job and/or within the community on a sustained basis.  We invite you to begin now to consider possible nominations.  Nominations this year are also requested from agencies in Greater Minnesota and states contiguous to Minnesota.

The criteria for selecting nominee(s), as well as the actual selection process, are left to each individual agency.  The enclosed fact sheet contains only general instructions and the formula for determining the number of nominees permitted in each agency.  You are encouraged to consult with your managers and supervisors, examine recent employee appraisals, and review community volunteer activities to ensure that deserving individuals are not overlooked.

Five outstanding Federal employees will be selected by a special U.S. Congressional Office panel from among all general agency award nominations.  One employee will be honored in each of the five categories for this year’s outstanding employee awards.  These five categories include the following aspects of Federal employment: Administrative, Leadership, Professional Skilled/Trades and Community.  Please check the appropriate category for each submitted nominee (maximum of up to two categories)—Failure to complete this section will deny the employee an opportunity to compete for one of the five outstanding Federal employee special awards. Final selection is done by staff members from Minnesota’s Federal Congressional Offices. This selection is based expressly from the written information on each nomination – please ensure it is comprehensive!

Specific information relevant to the luncheon (reservation requests) will be forwarded to your agency after COB Friday, March 8, 2013.  NOTE:  This year’s luncheon reservations will be accepted only online.

The nominee(s) Selection Form for Calendar Year 2012 Civil Servant of the Year must be submitted by close of business on Friday, March 8, 2013.   All forms are to be returned electronically via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
